Butter Tarts for Poppa

Butter tarts were my dad (Poppa)’s favourite. He was a pie guy generally and liked most things with a pastry crust. My dad died five years ago today. It will always feel like a sad day to me. So, to help us feel better (I say we, because let’s face it, when I’m blue, it definitely takes its toll on my family!) we’ve made it a family tradition to mark the day with butter tarts. It’s a particularly buttery and gooey version. But hey, they are ‘butter’ tarts after all!

French Loaf, the only bread you’ll ever need

This bread might be the only bread recipe you’ll ever need. It’s super easy (even my kids can make it) and incredibly versatile. Toast it for breakfast. Use it for sandwiches at lunch. Roll out thin like a baguette to serve with charcuterie. Or, serve hot from the oven along side soup or stew for dinner. When it starts to go dry, use it for french toast or dice and toast for croutons.
